Our client, a major port in Essex, currently requires a Able Seaman / Efficient Deck Hand onshore as a permanent Marine Operative, to efficiently and effectively carry out operational tasks allotted, including the safe movement and berthing of vessels within the port.
Our Marine Operatives are based from and resident in the Lock-side office and accommodation, working within a duty 'watch' system of one week on duty, providing a continuous, 24 hour presence, followed by one week off duty.
Reporting to the Duty Officer(s), the Marine Operators, working approximately six months per annum, will be reacting to and directing a prompt response to all marine incidents in accordance with the Port's and industry procedures and the Port Marine Safety Code.
Candidates must be qualified to Able Seaman or Efficient Deck Hand CoC; or have MOD (Navy) qualifications and a current ENG 1, or ML5 medical certificate and driving license with previous experience as:
Seaman in ‘short sea or home trade’ or deep sea dry cargo’ vessels, or port towage
Previous relevant MOD (Navy ) or equivalent, relevant service
Position: Able Seaman or Efficient Deck Hand

Salary: £21,105.37 + shift allowance £3,068.61 + travel + accommodation + subsidence (Annual)
